Four Benefits of Playtime for Cats
Posted on
We all know that exercise is good for us and makes us feel better, and the same goes for pets. However, cat play can be more of a challenge. While cats tend to be more solitary creatures, they all benefit from:
- Toned Muscles
- An Alert Mind
- Healthy Body Weight
- Release of Anxiety and Boredom
Engaging kittens is a snap! They are always eager to jump and spring about, but remember not to use your hand, feet or other body parts. It will send the message that fingers and toes are not prey for pouncing. Think toys for motion and stimulation.
- Recommended Playtime for Kittens: 10-15 minutes a few times a day
For more grown-up cats, playtime may be a tougher sell. Regardless, cats have an instinctive sense of curiosity. Mix up how you engage your feline and see what works.
- Recommended Playtime for mature Cats: 3-5 minutes to start, twice daily.
