The Pad has three correction options-sound only, shock only and sound & shock.  In shock or shock & sound mode if your pet touches the Radio Mat the pad sends a low level, harmless shock signal to the collar reminding your pet to scat. The pad only "talks" to the collar so there is no worry that people accidentally touching the pad will receive any stimulus. In sound only or shock & sound mode the sound can be heard by all pets and people  The pad works as a stand-alone system but can also be used with any Humane Contain electronic fence system.
