The X-10 Rechargeable Fence uses patented "Pulsed Proportional Stimulus System".  A combination of sound and stimulus work together to give your pet the appropriate level of correction to keep them in the boundary area.  The stimulus begins with slow pulses.  If your pet continues toward the boundary they receive both pulses and sound and then finally fast pulses. These fast pulses seem more intense. This means your pet never receives more correction than necessary.
